EVENTS
AWRC runs a variety of workshops for women to provide opportunities to upskill, network and engage in creative activities.
Social Mondays: Coffee, Cakes and Games
Location: AWRC
Day & Time: Every Monday 10:00 AM - 2:00 AM
Starting this October, every Monday from 10 AM to 2 PM, AWRC is creating a peaceful and welcoming space for women at our centre. Play board games like Ludo, UNO and Scrabble, read a book in your own language, or just relax with a cup of tea and some company. At our Social Mondays you can explore new activities, learn from other activity participants, and take part in gentle, uplifting experiences in a space that respects your journey and promotes healing.
HERSPACE
Theme: Embroidery and Stitching
Location: AWRC
Day and Time: Every Friday 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Starting November)
This November, the AWRC along with Seductive Stitch is organising a special series of embroidery workshops designed for women who have experienced domestic abuse. Over the course of four sessions, we will explore the calming, therapeutic art of stitching.
Embroidery is more than just a craft—its repetitive motions can help you focus on the present moment and easing stress.
Session Details:
- Week 1: Introduction to stitching with starting and back stitch
- Week 2: Learn the delicate french knot and satin stitch
- Week 3: Explore the rose stitch and embellishment techniques
- Week 4: Finishing your embroidery and backing it for display
Each session is a safe, supportive space where you can learn new skills, create something beautiful, and connect with other women who share similar experiences. Whether you are new to embroidery or have experience, these workshops offer a creative outlet that encourages healing, reflection, and connection.
